Raising Eyebrows: Is a Browlift Right for you? New technique is less invasive
April, 2008

"The eyes are so central to the way we perceive others," says Dr, Kevin Roberston, a well-respected cosmetic surgeon in Middleton and the owner of Robertson Plastic Surgery. "Because humans are driven by what they see in the eyes of others, many want to get back that certain sparkle in their own eyes." When Robertson talks about reclaiming that sparkle, he isn’t referring to colored contact lenses and fashionable eyeglass frames. Rather, he’s speaking of cosmetic approaches that open the eyes and smooth the forehead, or brow, above them. At Robertson’s clinic, he performs a minimally invasive technique called an endoscopic browlift to achieve this look. While the approach is relatively new- it’s been available since the 1990s- Robertson has embraced it for several reasons. “The endoscopic browlift utilizes smaller incisions so side effects are minimized,” he explains, “and it’s a more patient-friendly approach. The smaller incisions and shorter recovery time may be more palatable to patients.” Robertson also likes endoscopic browlifts because the work well when combined with other cosmetic approaches. When smoothing the brow, Robertson often gets requests for blepharoplasty, an upper eyelid procedure. “It’s a nice way to take advantage of things and avoid having to make additional incisions,” he says.
